Avalanche Transceiver Training in the Sand, North Berwick

  • £60.00

An Avalanche Safety course is like a First Aid course. It is extremely important information that could save someone's life but you hope you never have to use it...

We will be burying the transceivers and doing more complex searches including multiple burials and how to cope with these.

  • Backcountry Warriors looking to hone their skills
  • Experienced on-piste skiers and boarders who are now ready to begin venturing off-piste safely.
  • Anyone working in the Alps for the season.
  • Snowsports clubs, mountaineering groups and travel companies.

Understanding the importance of 'Companion Rescue' techniques is absolutely crucial when venturing off-piste. It is your best chance of saving a life.
You may own a transceiver, shovel and probe which is a great start, but knowing how to use them is essential. If you don't own any equipment, we can supply it for the training.
During the training session, we will train you on how to understand and follow flux lines and conduct a three-stage search with the objective of finding someone in under five minutes. I will also train you on how to use a probe and shovel effectively.

This dryland session will meet outside the Seabird Centre at North Berwick. From there we will do some theory then head out into our natural transceiver training park, the beach, to do some real-time searching, probing and digging!!

The training session will last three hours from 11am till approx' 2-2.30pm

Everyone attending the training will receive a discount voucher to purchase BCA equipment.
